Conquering Your Insecurity.

1 comments - Post a comment

We all feel insecure when we first start blogging I think..do you?I know I do..but because of the need to get it started is more overwhelming,we get past it and started our blog. Then the feelings start to creep back in,right after you finished writing your first article..you read it maybe 20 times, changing something each time you've done reading but you just can't get your self to hit the publish button..Why?
  • How will I ever get noticed?
  • Will people read it?
  • Will they like what they read?
  • Can I always write like this every time?
Sounds familiar? It does to me..even after all those post I've made,I sometimes feel this way.The best thing to do is ignore it,just write what you want to and then publish it.Thinking about those things won't get you anywhere, you will end up not posting anything until you feel really sure that it is what people want to read. How long do you think it will take? How about forever?

Do you know what is the best thing about a blog?
  • You can write whatever you want, and nobody can stop you from doing it.
  • Normally people will read your article, will like it and will like your blog, because these people share the same interest. This is a common thing.
  • What you write is kept in your blog archive and people can still read it long after it was first published.
  • You're responsible for what you write, you also have a freedom to change your mind.Maybe today you will give your view on something base on current event, but later when there is a new development, you might want to change your view because of it,go ahead, maybe some of your readers might disagree, but it is your blog, and I believe the number of readers disagreeing with you is so much less than the one that agree.
Don't look at other blogs and start comparing yours with it,it will make you feel more insecure.Let them do what they want with their blogs, and let them enjoy the success of it.Concentrate on your blog, especially the content and soon you too will find success with your blog.

What Many People Think About Blogs.

1 comments - Post a comment

A lot is known about what a blog is and its impact to the Internet, yet there are people who are still sceptical and still unaware about a blog potential.

  • It is a platform for personal grouse or experience.A weblog or blog is certainly somewhat like an online diary, but now it is use more in breaking news and is gaining popularity if compared with traditional mainstream media like news on television or newspapers.
  • Nobody reads them.Research by Pew Internet & American Life Project estimated that 32 million American reads blog regularly and that is only in America, what about other countries where blog is quite popular too.
  • Nobody makes money with blog.Problogger,TechCrunch and John Chow, just to name a few A-list blogger that have a six figure annual income blogging,Perez Hilton celebrity blog earn as much as $50,000 a month, not to mention other non A-list blogger that earn from $1,000 to $5,000 a month.
  • I prefer a website.Blogs have many advantages, among it are most blog is updated regularly, consistently, meaning each time you visit, there will be new posts. It is easy to arrange information on your blog in chronological order, meaning it is arrange from the latest to the older one and search engine just love this sort of structure.Blog is easy to update, easy to maintain.Blogs also allow user interaction, making it an efficient platform to build communities.
  • It won't last long. Many people say that blogs will die sooner or later. There are blogs that no longer exist,or being abandoned not because blogging is dead, but mostly because the blogger lack direction when it starts, and by not achieving anything, they abandoned it.Everyday 120,000 new blogs are created, and there are 22 blogs currently in the Top100 most popular media websites on the Internet and there is certainly no sign that blogs are dying or will disappear.
  • You can easily make money blogging. As contrast to some believe that you cannot earn from your blog, there is this certain thought that believe it is easy to make money blogging. To make some additional income, this is certainly true, but to make a living from blogging takes time, hard work and lots of patience.
  • A good blog and good content can get you traffic.Yes and no..yes because a good blog with great content can certainly attract some decent followers and no because even though your blog is good, with great content, you still have to expose it,so people will know about your blog, then you will get traffic.

Any Certain Path To Blogging Success?

No Comment - Post a comment

Do Not Go Where The Path May Lead,Go Instead Where There Is No Path And Leave A Trail - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When you start your blog, there are lots of other bloggers who are at the same level as you, just starting off, because of this,it is hard to really place some value on your self, your blog. You just have to keep on working your way through, doing all the possible thing, the right thing to keep you on the right track.By progressing on the right track,in the right time will make you and your blog last longer.

Most of us start from nothing, from scratch,so there is no certain advantage to anyone really except for what you choose to blog about, but how come some make it and some don't?It depends on the step you make, the path you choose. Some bloggers push them self to make their blog better, getting traffic to their blog that they spend so much time on their blog than anything else. There are times when they realize they are going too fast,so they slow things a bit,but some bloggers just give it all up or start to ignore their blogs because they are not getting the results that they hoped for after spending all those time, making all those effort.

Blogging needs patience and persistence. It takes time to build your blog, getting traffic to it and with patience and persistence, your blog can be popular, you can be popular, but when you achieve this, there will be people who just hated you because you are popular, your blog are popular.Just ignore this type of people, you have done so much, gone through so much to be where you are, don't let this stop you from getting to the top.

After all that have been said,it is actually up to you to decide who do you want to be,what do you want to achieve, what kind of blog do you want to have.

I choose my own path..Yes..I have 3 blog including this, but I don't do what other bloggers do.Some bloggers choose to earn some money by joining PayPerPost,or SocialSpark, and then wonder why they suddenly get lower page rank. That is why I'm not doing it.Some bloggers want to make money using their blog by placing a lot of ads on their blog, but have no real content, and complain they don't get lots of traffic.People look for blogs to find something interesting to read, not to look at ads.I only have AdSense on my blog, and no ads yet on my personal blog.Bloggers really love to exchange links, but sometimes they don't really understand what kind of links that is actually useful for them,so they just exchange links with any possible bloggers who wanted to.I put other bloggers links that I find really interesting on my blog, and I never ask them to do the same for me.I always believe in myself, trust my instinct and even though what I'm doing, actually what I'm not doing may look odd,but that is just me.I follow my own path, and maybe leave a trail for others to follow.

What I Need To Start A Blog.

No Comment - Post a comment

Everybody..and I mean everybody can have their own blog,if you have access to a PC or laptop with Internet connection. These day everybody want to have a blog, especially when they know that somehow you can earn money just blogging.I don't mind if they have these on their mind when they start a blog because it is up to you for what reason you want to start a blog and what your blog is about. My concern is the lack of knowledge.Knowledge Is Power..but what kind of knowledge? You know what a blog is,you know it can earn you money..is that enough? Is that the only knowledge you have to help and guide you in your journey to earn money blogging?

I always like to look at blogging as an ongoing learning process, meaning you will learn more when you get involve, knowing other bloggers, looking at other blogs, reading other blogs, updating yourself with the latest news, but this doesn't mean you don't need some knowledge when you want to start. The most important reason people start a blog is because they want someone else to read it,they want lots of people to read it.That is why bloggers are concern about traffic, about their page rank, wanted to exchange links and so on.

I want to share some of the question that I came across in forums that I join, and you decide if knowledge is important to bloggers or not.
  • What is traffic?
  • How do I get targeted readers to my blog?
  • Why no one visit my blog?
  • I've been updating my blog regularly, but I still haven't got any Page Rank(PR),and by the way,I just started blogging last week.
  • Why my blog is not indexed by Google?
  • How do I get people to subscribe to my blog and can someone tell me how to do it.
  • What should I write in my blog?
  • How do I get a counter for my blog?
  • I want to start blogging, can someone suggest where I can get a free blog,I'm a bit tight on budget but really love to write.
  • What is the best topic to blog about?
  • What is AdSense?
  • What should I do to get my blog approved by AdSense?
  • I'm using blogger, please suggest which template is suitable for AdSense.
  • What other ads can I put on my blog other than AdSense?
OK..I agree..some of these question do sound funny, but remember, this are real question posted in forums, not one that I created.I'm not an expert, but I do my best to answer to all those question based on what I know, what I've read and what I've done personally, and some other forum members share what they know too.

I learn a lot by looking at other blogs. If I find an interesting buttons or widgets,I just put my cursor there, and look at the website URL down on the left hand corner of my PC,write it down and when I have time,I'll visit the site to know more about it.

Basic things you have to know.
  • What is blog?
  • Which blogging platform is popular and free.
  • Set a topic for your blog about things you know.
  • How to bring traffic to your blog.
There are actually lots of things that you have to know like search engine,SEO,blog directories, links, social media and many more.Prepare yourself with knowledge, and keep on adding this knowledge if you're serious about blogging. The most important knowledge is how to get traffic to your blog, and to achieve this, you have to know lots of things..and one other major thing you must have is..PATIENCE.

How Do You Use Forums And Write Comment.

No Comment - Post a comment

It is quite disturbing to see the trends in forums now, especially from new members. They use forums to advertise their product or service,or just to promote their blog, this is what spam is all about. Most of them are too eager to show off their blog that they don't even bother to read the rules set by the administrator of the forums. Some just being ignorant to what forums is suppose to be.These are three current trend that I see in forums these days.
  • Too eager in wanting people to see their blog or website. These kind of forum members will simply use almost all the thread available to do it,sometimes even using other people threads.By doing this won't get them the exposure they want, instead they can get banned or other forum members just ignore them.If you want to show your blog, use the proper thread and wait for response from other members. If you see other members start commenting about your blog, give response, thanking them for their time and consider whatever suggestion that they give.
  • Using forums to advertise.Instead of showing off their blog or website, they simply advertise.Nobody response to this sort of thread and it only make you look bad. There are certain forums which allow you to advertise your service or product, but in a thread that they provide.Being a new member and posting your first post, but by posting nothing but advertisement won't do you any good.
  • Members who response to every thread in order to gain as many posts as possible. There is nothing wrong as long as your response can help and give value to what is being discussed.By posting I agree,Yes you are right doesn't mean anything and doesn't help in building your credibility. One other thing is posting question that has been discussed maybe a hundred times before. If you take your time, look at other thread,I'm sure you can find answers related to what you want to ask.By posting,Help me to get traffic,I need traffic.. just because you wanted to start a thread..will make you..well..look stupid!
Comments.

Forums and comments are two things that can certainly help boost traffic to your blog,or website, but only if you do it right. If you're doing like what I said above in forums,do you seriously think people would want to visit your blog or website over and over again? We are not talking just any visit, but people who like your blog and would certainly come back to read, even subscribe to it,unless the thing you only care about is the number on the counter of your blog.Leaving comments on other blogs meaning you leave your signature, your calling card.By reading your comment, the blog owner will feel intrigue to get to know you, what kind of blog you have.If you comment I like your post..Nice blog..Very good..what does that tells you?If you ask me,I will simply say this guy is doing it simply because he reads somewhere you have to comment on other blogs to get traffic. It is not only about traffic,it is about networking, about friendship.Do you want the only traffic from that particular blog owner or you want to build friendship and later build a network of traffic from that blog to yours? If you build a good relationship with certain blog owners, giving insightful comments and your own blog itself is interesting,I won't be surprised if you will start getting that blog readers to yours.

Forums and comments can help increase traffic to your blog, but you must do it the right way, take your time to do it,build your reputation and credibility in forums, build relationship with other blog owners. All this takes time, but you will certainly find the results very satisfying.People can judge who you are by reading your forum post, your comments and by visiting your blog so don't let all this ruined your online reputation that you only just started to build.

Blog Life Span - A Bloggers View.

No Comment - Post a comment

A blog sometimes have a very short life span. Most people give it 3 month, other are bit generous and giving it 6 month.No..a blog doesn't have any serious illness that given the seriousness making it life span that short. What determine the life span of a blog is its owner..you,me and any other blogger.

A blogger starts a blog, write the first post and publish it for the rest of the world to see..but after three days there is still no one reading it except for mom and dad, little sis,big brother who says what silly thing you wrote on your blog..well..at least you got your first comment even though he gave it straight in the face instead of writing it,which if you set your comment to be moderated will certainly have no chance to get publish on your blog. What about the rest of the world, didn't they like your blog, you have spent hours of what you consider your valued time to make it look nice.Being a new blogger there is no wrong to be naive, you search the web to look for answers. It says you have to join forums, submit your URL to major search engine(And you thought only cars have engines!),submit your blog to blog directories and so on.Hey!You found Entrecard,BlogRush and BlogUpp too while searching. You think the hard part is to make your blog looks nice and write an article, seems that more hard work waiting for you.

The first month..You got 300++ visitors! You're on the right track to become an A-List bloggger,so have to do what an A-List blogger would do..You do contest for your readers with great prize..what should it be..PS3,Wii or XBox?But your readers have to subscribe to your blog or your newsletter to be eligible to participate.Traffic increase by double fold and you are extremely happy.Later on you learn about social media..Digg,Stumbleupon..you just have to get your article there..and amazingly somehow you manage to do it..it certainly increase traffic to your blog, this time by thousands..you have made it,all this just within 2 month of blogging.

But during the 3rd month, your subscribers starts to decrease so does traffic to your blog, and the decrease is very drastic that it worries you..what are you going to do?You can't actually write good article because you started a blog in a niche that you knew little about but you still do it because it is a popular one.You take a drastic step and wrote about what is hot at the moment, but have nothing to do with what your blog is about..it backfires, more and more of your readers leaves you..until you decided..it is time to let go..

It doesn't have to be that way..
  • Start a blog around topics that you know and you're familiar with.
  • Focus on quality content.
After having your own quality readers to your blog, you can start doing..
  • Schedule routine post.A certain day for a certain post, doing polls on certain days to get feedback from your readers,or making another day for posting questions and getting your readers to answer, compiling it and turning it into a post.
  • Write a blog series.Certain topic takes a longer post,so make it into a few series instead of making one long post.Your readers will certainly be waiting to read all about that topic.
  • Run a worth while contest, not one asking readers to subscribe to your blog, but a contest that needs involvement from your readers, even if they don't win, they still gain something by participating.
Don't let your blog have such a short life span because you don't know how to make it live longer.Having a blog and keeping it going for a long time needs patience, determination and hard work.Good luck to all of you and to me too :-)

What Is Your Greatest Fear?

No Comment - Post a comment

We all have our own fear.Fear of height, fear of failure, fear of being rejected, fear of flying to name a few. What does fear have to do with blogging?I think a lot. Some bloggers fear of failure, fear of not getting noticed, fear of not getting traffic, fear nobody will read the blog, fear the blog is not as best as other blogs, fear of writing the wrong thing..fear,fear and more fear until it makes you want to quit,or maybe not even start even though the urge is strong.

My greatest fear when I wanted to start is not about failure, not getting traffic or my blog will not be as good as someone else blog(This is because I've seen so many blogs, some I even consider very poorly done that I keep telling myself I can surely do better than this!).No..my greatest fear is not doing it the right way.Sure, there are no certain rules or guideline that you have to follow that says you're doing it right, and no,no blog police will give away summons if you don't.Some seasoned bloggers say do it this way, some say don't do that!Because of feeling unsure what the right thing is,I only started blogging in April this year instead of January as I have planned.

So what did I do from January to March?I did my research on blogging.I surf the Net looking at as many blogs as possible, finding out which blog is in the top list, look at this blog and see how this top and seasoned bloggers do it.I download free ebooks about blogging and reading it religiously(I normally read 1 book everyday and sometimes up to 3 or 4 depending on the number of pages),all this to look for the right way to blog.

After that three month,I came to a conclusion that it all boils down to this three things.
  1. Blog about topics that you're really interested in because if you don't,it will be hard to motivate yourself to keep on blogging when you ran out of ideas.
  2. Presenting fresh, quality content with every update you make to your blog.Fresh, quality content doesn't mean the kind of article that will each time be on front page of Digg or Stumbleupon, but content created from your own original ideas and presented in your own unique way.
  3. Updating your blog regularly. It doesn't mean you have to update everyday or every two days, but doing it frequently, not 1 article in January,4 in February,2 in March,0 in April,18 in May.The reason to update your blog regularly is it will do good for your ranking among search engine.Search engine just love regularly updated blogs, and having a good page rank can really help in bringing traffic to your blog. When readers see your blog and see that your blog has not been updated regularly, they will think that you're not serious about your blog,I always think that way.Readers won't bother to revisit this blog.
Blogging is actually an ongoing learning experience, you'll learn new things everyday, learn new way to enhance your blog, keeping it up to date.Blogs started with only written content, then you can add photo's,later on audio's and now you can even add video's to your blog. There is always new technology to enhance your blogging experience so we will never know what next that is in store for us,but whatever the changes been made to further add the excitement of blogging, bringing it to another level, never ever forget about those three core element that a blog should have.

Sharing your view on this will be very much appreciated.Leave a comment and share your thoughts.Have a great weekend and Happy Blogging.

Exchanging Links.

2 comments - Post a comment

Most blogger, especially new one are very keen in exchanging links. The reason is,by building links can help improve your blog page rank, and in this process help boost traffic to your blog. Can we link with just anybody? Most bloggers I see are ready to exchange links with who ever that they can get,and most of the times they will get what they want because all this other blogger are also very keen on exchanging links. Before you go on searching every corner of the Net looking for others who might want to exchange links with you, reading this can surely help.

8 Tips On Exchanging Links.
  1. Related links - Link with other blog within the same niche.
  2. Domain and Page Authority - Links with page that have good page rank and an authority in its niche.
  3. No follow - Links with no follow command can help built your rank, while links with no follow command can only help in directing some traffic to your blog.
  4. Number of outbound links - Link with blog with fewer links.
  5. Older blog - The older the age of a blog or sites, the higher the value of linking with it.
  6. One way links - One way link are highly regard compare to reciprocal which are link- for- link exchanges.
  7. Page content - Link with blog that have a mixture of content and links rather than links only.
  8. Updated pages - Link with blog that is updated regularly and frequently because this kind of blog will be spidered or crawled more regularly by the search engine.
Does this criteria fits well with the blog that you ask to exchange links?Build your links gradually rather than all at once because it will look natural and will have bigger impact on organic search engine.Good luck in building your links.

Getting Ideas For Your Post.

2 comments - Post a comment

Some people have all this idea when it comes to post an article to their blogs, some people doesn't.They search the web for ideas or any other place they can think of.Some people say it is easy to write, some say its hard.I personally think it is not that easy, and not that hard. Not that easy because you must always remember there will be people reading it and and we can never know what their actual interest is.Sometimes you write an article that you considered very good, but you get less reader and don't even have anybody commenting on it,but when you post something simple that just pop up your mind at that time,it get lots of people reading it and leaving great comments. Not that hard because you can always write about what you feel about something and it is related to the topic of your blog. You can easily find topics by browsing the Net or reading your mails or reading your feeds.

I have been keeping this little notebook of mine since maybe 2 years back.Back then I just wrote whatever that I find interesting daily especially things in newspaper or on TV or things I came across in my life.Nowadays I've been jotting down ideas for my posts, interesting topics on the Net,topics from my feeds, reading other blogs.Whatever that I find interesting,I wrote it in my notebook.I have two notebook actually, one that I use to just simply scribble whatever comes to mind,or see.The other one is where I write back what I wrote in my first notebook, but make it into points form, making it easier for me to elaborate when I used it to make a post to my blog.

I find this a very good thing to do since there are days that you just can't think of what to post to your blog, the ideas you wrote in there can certainly help. The notebook where I just scribble anything is small,so I can bring it anywhere I go,and I make a point to write everything I just wrote to it to my other, bigger notebook each time I reach home after a day out.Today I found the relevance of keeping this notebook after reading my feeds.A posting in Daily Blog Tips by Steven Snell mention about this, but Steven call it his journal.Journal or Notebook,it is still the same thing and it is certainly what I think most bloggers must keep for their own convenience.

In his post Steven lay out 9 important keys to maximize the effectiveness of your journal or notebook if you already have one.
  1. Available when you need it.That is why one of mine is small,so I can bring it along anywhere I go.
  2. Organized.Writing back notes in my small notebook,to the point form in my bigger one is to keep my entry to it organized, and I even put a date to every entry.
  3. More idea than post. You don't have to write about every idea in your notebook. The point of having it is to help you when you don't have any idea what to post to your blog, and not every idea you have in it is for publishing purpose.
  4. Ongoing. If it is always available to you, adding entry to it is certainly an ongoing process. The more entry you made, the more ideas for posts.
  5. Free flowing.Just write down whatever you find interesting,or whatever comes to mind.Don't judge it right away.Sometimes what you wrote will make great posting for later time.
  6. Experimental.By having many points in your notebook, you can experiment using which material can make your post better. You already have an outline for what your post will be,just a matter of picking the right points, the best points to be included and how to present it to your reader.
  7. Individualized.Don't copy how others are doing it.It's your own journal,do whatever you find suitable for you. What Steven wrote and that I added are from our own experience. Some of it may apply to you, some don't.Choose whatever that you feel works for you. What works for me might not work for you.
  8. Updated.Keeping your notebook or journal is important, after writing many blog posts, you surely don't want to write about it again.Mark those ideas that you have turned into a posting to your blog, but you can always write again about it when in the earlier post it is not relevant, but have become relevant again in maybe months to come.Add new perspective to it,approach it from different angle.
  9. Prioritized.Certain ideas can be use immediately, some maybe not relevant at that time.Use your own way to prioritized your entry,so you know which one is more relevant.I normally highlight the title of the more relevant ones.
If you haven't have your own notebook or journal, maybe this is a good time to start one.If you already have,I hope by sharing Steven experience, and my own experience in keeping a notebook or journal can help all of us when we have problems finding ideas to write a post and hopefully to create better and great posting.

Optimizing Your AdSense Ads.

No Comment - Post a comment

For blogspot users like me,it is easy to add an AdSense ad to your blog.Adding an AdSense ad to your blog doesn't mean you can automatically generate income from it.People will have to click on your ads for you to earn something. There's lots of talk going on debating about AdSense, some says its good, some doesn't think so.Some claims they don't get anything from it,some says they make thousands from it and sell books about their secrets. Some don't use AdSense at all, some use other alternative to AdSense.

I look at it simply like this. There are thousand advertisers who pays Google to have their ad on the web,Google provide a simple and free way to have your own blog,so why not help the advertisers by providing certain space on your blog to show their ad.Google gets lot of money through advertising, and in turn they use it to provide some of the best services on the Internet, the advertisers get to run their ads,and gain something from it,Me..I get some pocket money by providing space on my blog to run this ad.I think it is a fair deal, and the ad is consistent with my blog.

Optimizing Your AdSense.

There are 4 things that actually determine what you will get from your AdSense ads.
  1. Ad Format - The best thing to do is to use Blend Template,so that the ads blend together with the rest of the stuff on your blog.It is not to mislead your readers into thinking it is a part of your content, but to not make it look as an ad.Most people are turn off by the sight of an ad,so blending it nicely will actually have a good impact on your blog.Even if they don't click the ads,it won't turn them away from your blog.
  2. Ad Placement - Some people say put an ad in your content section.I don't totally agree. The ad placement that I think suitable is one on top just below your header, one on your sidebar, and one right down below your page.Actually the best way is to keep on experimenting this ad placement to suit your blog,no one blog is the same,so the results will vary, but those three places is the one that is also recommended by Google.
  3. Content - The title and content of your blogs must be relevant to your blog to get ads that is consistent with your blog.Because Google search on your title and blog content to determine which ad will be assigned to it.My content normally touch about blogs,so my ads have been consistently ads about blogs.
  4. Keywords - Some people do keyword research to find which have the high paying ads, some ads have a payout of up to $75 per clicks! You can do this by checking out Google AdWords, because ads on your AdSense ads are those done by advertiser bidding in AdWords.People do keywords search for 2 reasons, getting higher Page Rank and High Paying Ads by using those keywords on their blogs. But don't litter your blog with keywords that have little or no meaning or relevant to your blog just to gain this.It will turn your readers away.
But the most important thing is to get traffic to your blog, because this will increase the chances of your ads being click, but Google have very strict rules regarding clicks,so careful where your traffic is coming from so you won't get banned because of the wrong people who click your ads.Always write good, quality content relevant to your blog, because this will ensure you get ads relevant to your blog, and some of this ad may be of value to your readers.

One thing you will notice kind of inconsistent to my post is the ad right after my posting.I actually run three ads as permitted, and place it like I mention,on top, sidebar and at the bottom and it all blend with my blog.I certainly don't know how this ad gets there, been trying to delete it but still no success.Hope you don't mind it being there even though it stuck out quite oddly!Sorry For The Inconvenience.

Is Blogging Addictive?

No Comment - Post a comment

I do find blogging addictive..actually I find Internet is addictive.I spend almost 14 hours everyday on the Internet!I must admit it is part of my life, and blogging is something that I love to do.Like to share what Steven Snell of Daily Blog Tips said about addictive habits of blogger and the way I look at it.

8 Addictive Habits Of Bloggers According To Steven.
  1. Obsessing over subscribers.
  2. Checking stats constantly.
  3. Chasing social media traffic.
  4. Excessive use of social media.
  5. RSS feeds.
  6. Forums.
  7. Rankings.
  8. Email/IM.
My opinion.
  1. I do look at my visitor counter every morning to check how many people visit my blogs, and I received a report every week detailing my visitors data,to see which day I had the most visits and which article attract readers to.With this data I can make improvement to my posting.
  2. I just occasionally check my stats because I have my weekly report,so it don't bother me much.I'm still new and looking at the rate my blogs are doing,I think it is way beyond what I expected, and I'm still in the process of trying to establish my blogs.
  3. I'm not much of a social media person, but I do check out Stumbleupon and Digg once in a while.I also have MySpace account which I rarely open.Maybe it is because the nature of my blog that I don't look much at Social Media compare to people who really wants to make money using their blogs.
  4. As I said,I don't really use Social Media sites.
  5. I subscribe to 5 blogs, and those with interesting topics for that day I will mark with a star, and spend about 30-40 minutes reading it later, with my notebook ready to jot down any good points.
  6. I spend about 1-2 hours in forums, normally I just look at the home page, looking for interesting topics.I will be alerted through my mail if there is any new reply in threads that I have posted.I will only join in if there is something that I want to add,or I want to ask.
  7. Being new to blogging, ranking certainly don't bother me much, and I actually don't look at it much because it doesn't really tell your performance.I will still be blogging no matter what my rank is.
  8. I only reply mails that I think have to be replied, other than that,I don't waste much time on it,but sometimes I do look at items I received if it is related to my blogs to get some points for my postings.
My Suggestion.
  • Manage your time properly,if you can do this, you will never feel that 24 hours a day is not enough.
  • Have a proper time table for your daily routine on the net.
  • Counters, rankings are just numbers. It doesn't really tell your blog is a failure or success.Don't let it makes you feel dejected.Sometimes you posted a very good article, but few people visit to read it,let alone leave comment.Never give up!Keep on posting good article, one day it will get notice.
  • Don't spend time on things that have less importance, instead spend more time visiting other blogs, leaving comments, look for resources for your own posting.Visiting other blogs sometimes will give you an idea what to write in your next post.
The moral here is not to let those things distract you from your real goal, that is to have a good blog.If you spend more time building your blog with frequent posting, good quality article, you will find success. But if you use more time thinking about how to increase your rank, how to attract more traffic, how to earn more without making proper emphasize on the quality of your blog,it all will come to waste.

This is just my view. What do you think? Is this bad habits really bad for your blog future?Leave your comment so we can share.

Optimizing Your Blog.

No Comment - Post a comment

Just a short post today..not feeling very well actually.I received this newsletter in my mail about why some websites fail to succeed.I think there are some points that can be taken in a blogger point of view to optimize blogs not only making sure of the blog success, but keeping it going as long as possible. Most blog this days started out very brightly, with nice layout, good content, regular posting, but after a few month the spark seems to die a bit,the posting start to decrease until the blog was left deserted. There are few reason, maybe the blogger does not have the time to tend to the blog anymore or they have just lost interest after finding it is hard to maintain a blog,to regularly post to it.It depends much on why they started the blog in the first place. If its for money, than the shorter the age of the blog can be,because making money is not easy using a blog, you have to post something to it,get traffic to your blog.I've seen many making money blogs that was updated most recently February this year, but most of it have no posting since late last year.

9 Reason A Blog Won't Last Very Long.
  • No specific objective.
  • No specific targeted audience.
  • Not building for right audience.
  • Working out traffic from anywhere possible.
  • Don't care to check other blog.
  • Inconsistent.
  • Not updating your blog with time.
  • Poor blog performance.
  • Lack of commitment.
Don't start a blog just because you want to.Think what your blog is about, can you consistently make a post for about 6 month.Don't just post whatever that comes to mind,if you still wants to,keep it relevant to what your blog is about.Don't aim for almost everyone in this universe to read your blog.Get traffic to your blog that is within your niche, not just linking with any possible site you can find.Try to get qualified visitors, not random ones.If from the start you have a right target for your blog, being consistent won't be a problem.Keep up with time, make changes to your blog accordingly. If you want to start a blog, make sure you can commit your self,if you're thinking of setting up a blog to start making money, hoping it will all come by it self, stop dreaming, and don't start a blog!To some blogging is a hobby, and people spend time for their hobbies. To some blogging is a passion, and people certainly have time for their passion, and loving every minute of it.If you don't have the passion, then don't,go do something else that you can do passionately.

Blog Content Vs Blog Layout.

No Comment - Post a comment

If you see most of the blogs these days, more concern are being emphasize on the outlook of the blog.Is this wrong? If you ask me I don't see any wrong, because your blog outlook is what first attract people to your blog,a nice color, nice layout, not so many ads,no out of place and unimportant widgets, nice logo, nice blog title and tag.All this makes a blog..beautiful,excited and attractive.

Your Blog Looks Empty And Lack Colour!

Actually this are comments and reviews I received about my blog.My first response was..Why do you care..Its MY BLOG!!!Not a nice response actually, but I didn't let it out, just saying it to myself. After a while, after browsing other blogs, and looking..I mean really looking at my blog,yes..it really look kind of plain and dull!I will change the template, add more colour to it,work a bit on things in the sidebar..make a few adjustment.

People Are More Concern About Looks Than Content?

People that visit your blog are readers, they look at it,read your post. Some people have an interesting layout but lack content to match it.It attract readers, but some of them won't come again.I received a number of reviews about my blog which comment about my blog layout, but still they find the article interesting, but a lack of attraction might just turn them away in the first place. There are people whose concern is more on the look of the blog. Some are more concern about the content, and there are some who just doesn't seem to care about both!I am in the more concern about content group!

Which Is The Best?

Well..to have a really nice and good blog,I must say its a mix of everything, starting from your domain name.I list it down for you.

  • Domain - A good,possibly short,easy to remember and interesting domain name.
  • Title - A catchy title will certainly do the trick.
  • Logo - If yours is a business blog,a good logo will be good for your blog.
  • Header - An attractive header will surely make people interested.
  • Template - A nice, simple template is good and much better with a great colour mixture.
  • Ads - Not to many ads, especially image banners.
  • Widgets - Just add all the necessary widget.
  • Content - A good, fresh quality content and posted regularly is the most important part.
Summary.

  • Not one thing can contribute to blog success, but a mix of a lot of things.Things on your blog itself, and most importantly, your contribution to make it a success. You can start a blog, put everything into it to make it look nice and attractive, but if you can't put your time and effort in writing good articles,it just won't work.
  • Reviews and comments are from your readers, don't just throw it away because you think they don't have the right! They have every right, because they want something that is best for them.If the reviews or comments is for the benefit of your blog,to make it better, accept it,and tweaked it.
  • Review your blog after 3 month,or 6 month to see if it needs any improvement.Change your blog with time.
  • The first impression is important.
But then again, what kind of blog do you have?Personal blog might be more colourful, business blog have to be simple and straight forward.Whatever the type of your blog is,I believe making it better is still your number one priority.

Want To Expose Your Blog?

2 comments - Post a comment

For a new blogger like me..nope..I don't consider myself a blogger yet, because I'm still new at this..I think a blogger is someone who has been blogging long enough to have an own audience,a reputable blog and making money from it!I think I'll just consider myself a new guy with a blog.I rephrase that..For a new guy with a blog, the most important thing is to get the blog expose to a bigger and larger audience as possible, with a hope by doing this, the blog can attract readers to it and become loyal readers.Having a good blog with good quality content won't mean much if the one reading it everyday is just your mom, your family and friends..and of course your girl or boyfriends.(My mom don't know I have a blog,so does my family and friends,so that just leave me with one loyal readers everyday, that is my girlfriend :-) and I think she's the only one who subscribe to my blog so far).So what do I do to expose my blog to a bigger and larger audience?

This Is What I Did.
  • I submit my blog to blog directories - So far I manage to get a few visits from Blog Catalog members.
  • I join forums - Members from Bloggerforum,Bloggeries and Bloggertalk have visit my blog.
  • I submit my blog to Link Referral - This is a nice place, the most visits I get is from here.
  • I'm working my way into Google Rank and hopefully with time my rank will get higher and will start generating visit from here.
  • I leave comments on other blog, and some of them are nice enough to visit my blog.
Any other way to expose it?

Don't Ever Give Up!

Internet is my life..Yes..I admit it..my life revolve around the intricate Web of the Internet!I always wonder what will happen if I cannot surf the Internet.Today I got the answer.I can't access the Internet for 9 hours!Yes!9 solid hours of my life without the Internet..my connection was down because some problems encountered by my service provider. For the first three hours I keep on trying to get connected thinking it was only a glitch in their service, but after calling their call center,I was inform about the seriousness of the problem and how long it will take to solve it,I just shutdown my PC.I do the laundry, clean up the house..just then I realize my house is a mess!!Lucky the Internet was down,if not I will keep on sitting in front of my PC.

Sometimes A Problem Is Actually A Blessing.

There are things in life we just can't control. We can plan everything to be perfect, but sometimes it just doesn't happen the way we want it,or worse,it just never happen.I prefer to see things positively.Nobody wants problem in their life, but it just happen and we have to face it.Always look at the bright side of it,there must be a reason for it to happen, and don't feel down because of it,but take it as a challenge, and create something good out of it.I'm not a lazy person, but sometimes I do get carried away with certain things that I enjoy doing.

Take A Break!

There are people who get to engrossed in what they are doing, bloggers especially.Remember the article last month in New York Times about bloggers who died because of heart attack?Well the article seems to exaggerate a bit,but still,it does brought up an issue that effect most bloggers. There are certain bad habits among blogger that can have some effect to their health.

  • Caffeine - Don't take it,or try to reduce it.
  • Smoking - Reduce,quit or don't even start.
  • Eating - Have a proper diet, not Coke and Chips.
  • Exercise - Sitting for long hours is not good for your posture.Do some stretching, walking around the house or around the block will be good after 1-2 hours staring at your PC or Laptops.
  • Water - Drink lots of water.
  • Sleep - A good night sleep can be good for your productivity and creativity.
Some Guys Have All The Luck.

Nope,I'm not singing Rod Stewart song..but as human,we always feel how lucky other people are, that we forget how lucky we actually are.

  • We see rich people, and feel how lucky they are.We forget that we are lucky we have home, food to eat,bed to sleep in.In some countries, there are people who live in tents, fight just to have food and sleep on the ground with their hand as pillow.
  • We see good blogs, and feel how lucky the blogger is.We forget all the sweat and time they put into it to make it as it were today. We forget that things are easier today for us compare to the time when they started. If we work hard enough,we can be like them too.
Don't Ever Give Up!

  • If you haven't get as many traffic as you want.
  • If nobody ever comment on your blog.
  • If your blog don't have any ranking.
  • If you haven't made any sales.
  • If you haven't generate any income.
Things might not goes well for you,but that is no reason to give up.Giving up is easy, but if you want to achieve something, you must work for it.Really work for it.

Traffic..Quality Traffic Or Content..A Very Sticky Question Indeed.

No Comment - Post a comment

Everybody seems to be doing all they can to generate traffic to their blog or websites, especially those involve in selling products, programs or money making opportunities.Surely there is no point starting a blog if you can't attract readers to it,unless you started it because you wanted to read it alone,or maybe just share it with the one you love. Most people start a blog because they have something to share, something to show, something to say or simply because they think they know what other people don't know.

Is Traffic THE Most Important Thing?

Some people do think so.I think it is important but it is just a factor besides a few other factors that I think will make a blog,or a website popular and successful.I saw a question in a forum today, asking why is it that her websites manage to attract traffic but still haven't made any sale.I look at the site and this is what I think of it.

  • The site title and tag is about awareness, but instead it have many ads,and is selling some health products.
  • The template and fonts doesn't look very interesting.
  • It took a very long time to load.
My Opinion.

I honestly think the reason for her failing to create any sales from the traffic she received is not because of the product is not worthed, but because of this.

  • The title and tags for her site makes people click on it,but when looking that it is actually about something else, people just leave.
  • The site doesn't look interesting and to make thing worse, you are greeted by a few ad banners when you reach the site, you have to scroll down a bit to see what the site is about. Most people don't like this. They want to know what your site or blog is about first. When they see ad banners like that,it will turn them off and they just leave.
  • The loading time is too long, people don't have time to wait for your blog or sites to load fully to finally know what your site or blog is about. They may wait for 30 - 60 seconds..still nothing..they just close it and look for other sites.
A Very Sticky Solution.

The best possible thing to get yourself out of this sticky situation is to turn your TRAFFIC into QUALITY TRAFFIC with your CONTENT!OK..actually not just content, but a few other factor. The question is how to make your blog,or sites..STICKIER..meaning it doesn't just attract readers, but make the readers stay, and for blogs or sites promoting products, make them buy your product. Here are some tips I would like to share to make your blog or site stickier.

  • Relevance - The content in your blog must be relevant with what it is about.Like the site I took as an example, the title and tag says it is about awareness, but the awareness part is 30% of the blog,30% is about health product relevant to the awareness she is promoting and 40% is advertisement.Don't misguide your readers, they won't like it.They won't stay or comeback.
  • Clarity - What your blog is about,or what product you are selling must be explain clearly to your readers. If they can't understand what your blog or site is about, they won't be convince by you.If you can't convince them, they surely won't stay and come back.
  • Memorable - Your blogs or site must be easily remembered by your readers, how to do this?Have a colorful template, catchy slogans or whatever that you can think of that will make you blog or site different, create your own logo. For me,I concentrate on quality content. If you can do this, they will stay a while and will surely come back.
  • Personality - What kind of personality do you have? You must be friendly to your readers, serious, funny, persuasive yet gentle..this will make readers feel more connected to you,and wanted to be friends with you.If they feel connected, they certainly will stay and come back.
  • Frequent Posting - Post regularly so your readers know they can always expect new posting from you. This will most certainly make them come back and stay to read your posts.
Traffic is important, but turning visits into regular stop is something different, and making them stay is much harder but not impossible.Setup a blog, drive traffic to it,make them come regularly through fresh, quality content and make them stay for as long as possible by making them feel comfortable and welcome by replying to their comments and mails, make them participate and be interactive..making them an important part of your blog.

How To Find New Readers.

No Comment - Post a comment

When I started my blog, one thing that clearly comes to mind is will people be able to find and read my blog.I think most of you fellow bloggers certainly have thought about this and surely have apply some ways that you know to attract readers to your blog.I look up Problogger today and find two interesting post on how to do this.

  1. 23 Ideas On How To Find New Readers - this post is actually a reply to his post from his readers on what they think is the best way to attract readers to their blogs.
  2. 19 Strategies For Finding Readers For Your Blog - A post by Darren himself on what he actually did to bring readers to his blog when he was just starting out.
I'm not going to list all of it here, instead I'm giving my own version based on what I have done, what I think I will do later and what I think is the best way for a new blogger like me.

My Tips On How To Find New Readers To Your Blog.

  1. Content - Always try your best to make a post with good, fresh and quality content.
  2. Comments - Comments on other related blogs, and reply comments to your blog.
  3. Forums - Join a few online forums, and be an active member.
  4. Submit Your Blog - Submit it to Technorati,Blog Directories and Search Engines.
  5. RSS feeds - Make it available on your blog and explain its benefit to your readers.
  6. Frequent Post - Posting frequently will make readers more interested in your blog.

  8. Be yourself, and enjoy what you are doing!
All of the things above are things that I personally have done to expose my blog and I think for a 13 day blog it has been doing well!

Anything Else?

There are two things that I left out of the above list, not because it is not important,

  1. Search Engine Optimization(SEO) - I haven't being doing much on it as I should and I strongly advice other bloggers not to left this out because being highly rank on search engine in your own niche can bring major boost for your blog.
  2. Advertising - I haven't done any advertising for my blog, but with available funds,I certainly will do it.If you have the money, try it,but do choose the best advertising method that will make your money worth.
So,there you have it,my own personal opinion on what you can do to find new readers to your blog.Hopefully this will help us to build our blog and our readers. Before I end this post there are two things I would like to share.

  • Building your blog, and getting steady flow of readers to it takes times,so be patient, keep on posting quality articles, try all the methods you know to expose your blog and gain readers and most importantly, enjoy yourself doing it.
  • A great businessman from my country pass away yesterday, and I like to share his business philosophy - In Business You Must Start Small,Study Everything And Go Step By Step. We can all apply this in building our blog.

Do You Have Problem To Write A Post?

2 comments - Post a comment

There is a reason why I ask this question.No..it is not because I face this problem, and I do hope and pray that this will not be a problem to me in the future because it can bring some effect to my blog and have to make me think back if this is certainly the things I want and love to do.

The Reason I Start Blogging.

Before I start about the title of my post, lets just share a few things.I started blogging early this month, not with this blog, but with another that I started because I was thinking of making money with it.After two weeks doing it,I found out that it is not that what I really want.No..I didn't stop and abandoned it after just two weeks, instead I still write my post once in every two days just like when I started it,the only difference I made is in the content.Rather than writing about how to make money online,I write about things you must expect if you want to make money online, and reminding people not to become victim of scams that make believe you can make money fast and easy online.

The Reason People Start Blogging.

When I see other people blogs,I look for when it was started, how frequent the posting was, what the blog is about, the quality of the post, what is there on the blog.Through all this,I came up with this three reason why people start a blog and keep on blogging.

  • They want to share things happenings in their life,or things that they find interesting and share it with others with the same interest. Most of this blogs have been around for at least a year. There are a few new one too,and some of it I find interesting.
  • They start blogging because it was taught by the Internet Marketing Guru's as the best way to start making money online because blogs are free. They write randomly and with variety of contents because they don't have any specific interest other than making money.Their blog have less or non quality contents, and even if it has,it might be articles from other sources. It is full of ads banner, text ads and links to money making sites.
  • They first started blogging because they love to,but seems to be getting nowhere,or lost interest on their blog, and make a turn around when they realize that blogging can actually get you some cash through GPT programs(Get Paid To..click an ad,surf the web,do surveys, read emails.you can even get paid to post!)
Do You Have Problem To Write A Post?

I came across this girl problem in one of the forum I joined. She ask if any one can gave her any suggestion on what to write on her next post. Two things come to mind immediately.

  1. She really needs help.
  2. She is using the forum as a platform to promote her blog.
I respond because of the first, and I will give my view on the second later.I view her blog.Looks nice to me.Her latest post was about her thoughts on something, what interest me is the variety of her posting. It is a new blog, she has post about a movie review, book review and other things.I think she hasn't decide what her blog should be before she started it,and by looking at it,I think she is trying to imitate what other blogs is about, and try to squeeze it into her blog. There is nothing wrong about it,but looking back at her question, and looking at her blog,I think she must look back at the reason why she started her blog.

  • Don't start a blog just for the sake of having a blog.
  • Don't start a blog having it will make money for you attitude.
  • Don't start a blog to imitate what others are doing.
  • Don't start a blog if you actually don't have anything to share.
  • Do start a blog if you have something that interest you and you know there are lots of people who you would like to share it with.
  • Do start a blog if it is really something you love to do.
  • Do start a blog if not getting anything from it doesn't bother you,and even after getting some rewards from it you still do it because you love to,not because to gain more rewards.
The reason you start a blog will actually have an impact on what you will achieve with it.

What People Will Do Just To Get Attention(And Traffic)

People join forums for a lot of different reason, but most of all is to get traffic by exposing yourself and your blogs to other forum members. Some would do just anything to gain this,by posting simple question like that girl did,by replying to as much thread as possible, and in the shortest of time(They hope people will look up to them because of the number of post/their status in forums),self promoting threads(Some forums doesn't allow this and you will be banned),and so much more.Join one and you will know what I mean.

One thing that I see most people forget is,you won't have such a big problem to drive traffic to your blogs. You can have any approach, with or without ethical value, its up to you,and you will see results. But what is the point of driving thousands of traffic if you don't have anything to show? Most people that are seriously trying very hard to drove traffic to their blogs,or websites are people involve in making money programs, because the Guru's taught them TRAFFIC = MONEY!What a lie and who would be a fool to believe this.Traffic means people VISITING your site,if you cannot turn them into CUSTOMERS,you don't get MONEY!If your site are just like thousands or millions other site promoting the same thing, what makes you think you are different, and that people will buy or join from your site?

Blogs are about content, and people everyday are looking for contents that interest them, can add value to their life,or to the knowledge they already have.If you can provide this, and provide it consistently, then you will have TRAFFIC and LOYAL READERS.

I certainly have to thank that girl, because of her forum post,I can make a post to my blog today!Just my point of adding how looking at things you do daily can provide source for your blog.

Your Life And Your Blog..Any Connection?

No Comment - Post a comment

We all have our own daily routine..work,household chores and during weekends, taking the family out..but does this daily routine have any connection to your blog? For someone who blogs about his/her personal life,it surely does, because things happening in their lives daily is what they blog about. What about other bloggers? How do they connect things in their daily lives to their blog?Or can they even connect it with their blog?

In some ways I think it did,but sometimes we just doesn't realize it.If you read about something, maybe you will write about it in your blog,to share with others, you manage this because you like to read news, magazines or other blogs. If you find an interesting video on You Tube, you might download it to your blog and share with others because you like Social Media sites, and it is part of your daily routine.

The Way I See It.

Actually you can improve your blog by taking into accounts what you see or what you do daily and apply it to your blog.

  • We do our daily things on a timetable..maybe no written one,but since we do it daily,it becomes routine.Apply this to your blogging life, check your blog for comments, reply to comments, make comments on other blog, join forum, post on forum, read your feeds, find interesting topic to write, post to your blog.Do it daily and it will become routine.
  • We see ads everyday..on the Web,TV,newspaper..everywhere.What makes and ad outstanding,or which ads attract your attention?Look at it and ask your self, what makes it different, outstanding and attracted you to it?You can apply the technique to your blog to make it different, outstanding compare to other blogs.Use eye catching title, nice and attractive template, add colours to your blog and maybe write your post differently.
  • We meet different people everyday in our life, people close to us,not so close, even strangers. We have different approach towards these people. The same can be done with your blog. There will be your loyal readers, not so loyal readers, even new readers,so you your blog must have all the approach to all this level of readers, for loyal readers to stay loyal, the not so loyal become your loyal readers, and new readers to have interest to regularly visit your blog. You must have a friendly content that can connect with all this different type of readers.
Since today is a holiday,(Labour Day),I went to the mall to shop a bit.It is so crowded with people everywhere,in the supermarkets, departmental store, cineplex, bowling alleys and the eating places. When I see this,do you know what runs through my mind?Malls attract a lot of people because theres variety. You can shop, you can eat,you can wind down by a game of bowling,or catch the latest movies. So it makes me think,if you want people to visit your blog, you must have variety.Other than your content, you can add blog rolls,so people can view other blogs from your blog,do a poll,so people can participate or what ever that you think can add variety to your blog, and give more value to your readers.

Do you have any other ideas to share? We sure can help each other by sharing ideas to improve our blog. :-)
